My name is James Afolabi, am a Metal Sculptor, am from Nigeria. Broken melody is a metal piece that is part of a series that am currently working on; a musical instruments series that showcase the creativity of artistic expressions of different musical instruments to create a functional and decorative artworks. Broken melody is a stylized center table designed with different metal scraps; bike chains rods, metal plates, spark plugs, break pads, engine rings, spanners, springs, Borries, bolts and nots, etc. I used a cut out guitar body template and laid the bike chain round it and welded it round the template to form the guitar body shape, after which I arranged all the scraps accordingly, welded them in place and also welded the rods to stand as support for the stand and the body, and I covered the rods with the cut out plate as handle. and the handle was welded to the brake pad as the base for the work. finally a glass table top in the shape of a guitar body was bolted on it with studs and glued in place and painted.
