Echoes of forgotten places

practical craft

some text

I am Richmond Twumasi 29years from the central part of Ghana. Rich Arts is a passionate painter based in Ghana, with five years of experience dedicated to exploring the depths of visual expression. My work reflects the rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes of Ghana, combining traditional motifs with contemporary themes. I draw inspiration from the natural beauty of his surroundings, the colorful markets and the vibrant rhythms of Ghanaian life. My paintings often feature dynamic scenes that capture the essence of community, spirituality, nature and the everyday experiences of people. Through bold colors and expressive brushwork, I seek to evoke emotions and tell stories that can be received deeply with viewers. My vision is to celebrate Ghanaian identity and foster a greater appreciation for local art. I aims to bridge the gap between traditional and modern artistic expressions, creating pieces that are both visually striking and culturally significant. However, my journey has not been without challenges. Navigating the art market in Ghana, securing materials and gaining visibility in a competitive landscape are challenges I continue to face. Despite these obstacles, i remain committed to my craft, believing that art has the power to inspire change and connect communities. I am determined to share my vision such that each piece not only reflects artistic journey but also contributes to the broader narrative of Ghanaian culture. This picture depicts the moments of a once-thriving community that is now characterised by strewn-about possessions and decaying buildings. Thinking about how time and nature affect man-made surroundings was the first step in my creative approach. I wanted to highlight how resilient nature is in reclaiming these areas, so I used bright colours for the vegetation and earthy tones for the buildings. Commonplace items, such as the damaged bicycle, are included to tell the tale of the people who formerly called this place home. Viewers are prompted to consider the past and the tales buried within deserted locations by this piece.
